Robert W. Hotz, Vice-Chairman
Commissioner Hotz is the Commission member from the First Congressional District. He was first appointed by Governor Dave Heineman on August 20, 2007, reappointed for a term beginning January 1, 2010, and was appointed again for a term ending January 1, 2016.
Rob is a fifth-generation Nebraskan, born and raised in Grand Island. He is a graduate of Grand Island Senior High, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (BA, 1984), and the University of Nebraska College of Law (JD, 1994).
Prior to serving on the Commission Rob had experience in both government and private legal practice, including General Counsel to the Nebraska State Treasurer, Legal Counsel to the Auditor of Public Accounts, Special Assistant Attorney General, and partner in a small Nebraska law firm.
Since his first appointment to the Commission, Commissioner Hotz has earned a Nebraska Assessor Certificate, has completed 150 hours of appraisal coursework, and earned a certificate from the National Judicial College for Administrative Law: Fair Hearings. He has also completed 30 hours of training in Basic Mediation, as recognized by the Nebraska Supreme Court Office of Dispute Resolution.
Rob is a member of the National Association of Administrative Law Judiciary, and serves on the Board of Deacons of Zion Church P.C.A. in Lincoln. He served on the Executive Committee of the Nebraska State Bar Association Government Practice Section from 2002 to 2012.
He and his wife, Marianne, home educate their five children.
